Our university has received major professional recognition: at the 200th electoral General Assembly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Csákiné Prof. Dr. Erika Michéli, Member of Hungarian Academy of Sciences, professor at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, MATE, was elected Member of the Life Sciences Presidium.

At the electoral General Assembly held on 5 May 2026, the recognised researcher was elected to the renewed leadership of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences by those entitled to vote. Prof. Erika Csáki Michéli, Director of the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Head of the Department of Soil Science, will participate in the governance of the Academy as a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. At the General Assembly, geologist Mihály Pósfai was elected as the new President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

The newly elected leaders will take office on 1 June 2026. It is also an outstanding achievement that, among the nine elected Academy officials, four female leaders won mandates, including our university’s professor.

This prestigious appointment is not only a fitting recognition of the professor’s outstanding scientific work spanning several decades, but also a source of great pride for the entire MATE community, further strengthening the institution’s national and international scientific reputation.
