American Double Degree Programs
Based on the cooperation agreement between the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) and Murray State University (MSU), the programs can be completed as double degree programs. The duration of the studies is 4 semesters, with courses offered in parallel in the curriculum by both MATE and MSU.
Available programs:
- Crop Production Engineering – Sustainable Agriculture
- Agricultural Economics – Agribusiness
If applicants wish to obtain diplomas from both institutions, they must apply to MSU in addition to MATE admission procedure on DreamApply. Admissions are conducted separately by the two institutions. Applicants must meet the MSU graduate admission requirements as determined by the Graduate Admissions Office. Admission status (full or conditional) must be determined prior to enrollment.
Full Admission:
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 credit hours or in the undergraduate degree; and
- An undergraduate major (or equivalent) in an agricultural field.
Conditional Admission:
- A minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 2.75, or a GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 undergraduate credit hours; and
- Applicants without an agricultural undergraduate degree may be admitted based on substantial agricultural work experience and/or completion of required prerequisite agricultural courses, subject to approval by the academic advisor and the graduate coordinator. Conditionally admitted students may take undergraduate and graduate courses concurrently.
Conditionally admitted students must achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 after completing nine graduate credit hours; otherwise, they will be dismissed from the program. Decisions regarding re-admission are made by the Graduate Admissions Committee.
Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency with an internationally recognized language test (e.g. TOEFL iBT ≥ 72, IELTS ≥ 5.5, or equivalent).
For the issuance of the double degree, students may complete MSU-taught courses online and/or in person. During the program, there is an option to participate in a two-week professional study trip in the summer; all related costs are borne by the students.
To receive the MSU diploma, students must complete 21 credits for Crop Production Engineering and 18 credits for Agricultural Economics at MSU.
The tuition fee is USD 668.5 per credit. Students may optionally take up to 6 additional MSU credits as electives; however, these are not required for the MSU diploma. MSU reserves the right to modify tuition fees.
