    No, you should prepare a tailored motivation letter for each university. Admissions committees expect content that reflects their programs, values, and your reasons for choosing them.

  • How can I check if I am eligible for an MSc or MA programme?

    If your previous studies are closely related to your chosen programme but some courses are missing based on MATE curriculum, you may be allowed to take the necessary BSc/BA subjects during your first year, depending on the decision of the programme lead. 

  • How do I apply as an international student?

    To apply as an international student, start by visiting our online application page and carefully follow the step-by-step instructions for your chosen BSc or MSc program. You will need to upload your academic documents, language certificate (if required), and a copy of your passport, then pay the application fee to submit your form. After that, you may be invited to an online interview or asked to take an entrance examination, depending on the program you apply for. Once you receive your acceptance letter, our university will guide you through the next steps, including enrolment and visa arrangements.

  • Is there an age limit for applicants?

    There is no age limit for self-financing students. Age limits may be specified by scholarship types. 

  • Is tuition fee paid per semester or for the full academic year?

    The payment of the first yearly tuition fee is a condition to receive the Letter of Acceptance. Later on, tuition has to be paid per semester.  

  • What level of English do I need to study at MATE University? What are the accepted English proficiency tests for international students?

  • Can I bring my family to Hungary while I study?

    No, unfortunately. With a residence permit for studies, it is no longer possible to bring a family member from home and apply for family unification. A third-country national holding or applying for a residence permit for the purpose of studies, a student mobility residence permit or a student mobility certificate shall not be granted a residence permit for the purpose of family reunification.     Dormitory accommodation costs around 120–180 EUR per month, depending on the campus and room type. Prices are lower in rural campuses and slightly higher in Budapest.

Students sometimes receive discounts with a student ID card. You can also find halal food options in Hungary, especially in Budapest, where several halal grocery shops, butcheries, and Middle Eastern, Turkish, and Asian restaurants are available and commonly used by international students.     The university accepts no liability for any financial or legal issues that may arise between students and accommodation providers. Please also be aware that these providers are popular among students from other universities as well, so competition for accommodation may exist.
