Foundation course for Studies in English
(For students applying for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in all disciplines at MATE)

Description of the preparatory course:
We offer the preparatory course to students whose professional skills and knowledge of English are not sufficient to be enrolled in the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes in Engineering (Technology), or Agricultural Sciences, or Business and Management (Economics).
Students develop their English language skills, and study the subjects necessary for the entrance exam of their chosen discipline or to start the relevant academic programme.

English language requirements for entry to the programme: level B1 (all applying students take an English written and oral entry test)

Duration:
•    1st semester: last week of September/first week of October – mid-December + examination period (December – January)
•    2nd semester: first week of February – mid-June (with the exams and exam preparation included)

Total length of the course: 800 hours (with the exams and exam preparation included)

•    Length of the first semester: 300 hours (10 weeks, 30 hours/week)
•    Length of the second semester: 500 hours (17 weeks, 30 hours/week)
(with the exams and exam preparation included)

Both Stipendium Hungaricum (SH) Scholarship holders and self-financed/ fee-paying students can apply to the foundation course.

Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship holders
Stipendium Hungaricum (SH) Scholarship holders should visit the following website for general information on the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme and registration: https://stipendiumhungaricum.hu/ 
The scholarship is awarded by Tempus Public Foundation.

Upon the recommendation of the relevant enrollment committee, and after the successful completion of the foundation course, the SH scholarship holder will automatically be accepted to the undergraduate (BSc / BA) or master's (MSc / MA) programme, and start his/her university studies in English at MATE.
SH scholarship holders will have to learn Hungarian as a Foreign Language (4 classes/week/each semester).

Self-financed students
Self-financed student must register on the following website: https://apply.uni-mate.hu/ 


Self-financed students must pay the full tuition fee before the start of the foundation course.  
To get the Letter of Acceptance, the full tuition fee payment must be transferred to the account of the university.
After having successfully completed the foundation course, self-financed students will have to take an entrance exam to the relevant degree programme of MATE.
