MATE at E3UDRES2 Intensive ILivingLab in St. Pölten

From 15 to 19 September 2025, St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences (StPUAS), Austrian partner of E³UDRES² European University Alliance, hosted the Intensive ILivingLab course, titled From Art to Extreme: Unmasking Harm in Creative Industries. MATE was represented by two students as course participants. At the same time, Judit Talláromné Czingili from the Centre for International Education contributed to the program as an Educational Entrepreneur (EE) and plenary speaker.

The challenge addressed during the week focused on developing high school students’ critical thinking skills in order to help them recognize the negative impacts of social media, such as cyberbullying, fake news, digital violence, and radicalizing hate speech. Using design-thinking method, students worked on innovative solutions to counter these pressing issues.

Organized into eighteen groups, the participants progressed step by step with the support of their EEs: from research and interviews to problem definition, brainstorming, ideating, prototyping, drawing up a business plan, and to give final presentations. On Friday, the groups presented their solutions to a professional jury. The recorded presentations will also be shared with school leaders, selected students, StPUAS professors and researchers of the field, and the provincial government of Lower Austria.

The intensive course will formally conclude on 31 October 2025 with an online phase, during which participants will submit both their group and individual reports. For MATE, the involvement of its students and the invitation of a project member to such a prestigious international initiative is a source of pride and recognition within the E3UDRES2 alliance.
