The Stipendium Hungaricum Sports Scholarship Programme supports international student-athletes with recognized sporting achievements in continuing their studies at Hungarian higher education institutions.

By welcoming outstanding athletes from abroad, the programme enhances the prestige of both competitive and university sports in Hungary while fostering role models for younger generations. It also promotes the dual career path of athletes, supporting their academic development and preparation for life beyond professional sport, and strengthening the role of university sports within higher education.

List of available study programmes for 2026/27 

Application Timeline:

25 March 2026  – the applicants submit their applications to the relevant international

sports federation (AQUA/IJF/ANOCA)

31 March 2026 – first selection point: the international sports federations forward the

ranked list of nominated applicants to Tempus Public Foundation

2 April 2026 – Tempus Public Foundation informs nominated applicants about the

submission of compulsory application documents

24 April 2026 – nominated applicants submit the required application documents in the online application system

27 April 2026 – second selection point: technical check of the applications

May 2026 – third selection point: institutional admission procedure

June 2026 – notification about selection results
