Cornell University Lecturer Delivered Science Communication Workshop at MATE

On 23 June 2026, Dr. Márk Sárváry, delivered a three-hour workshop entitled "Become an Effective Science Communicator: Tools for Engaging Non-Expert Audiences" in the Professor László Horváth Lecture Hall of the Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE).

 The event was organized by the MATE Excellence Research Group on Fish Welfare and Fish Product Safety.

Dr. Sárváry graduated from the predecessor institution of MATE, Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences, in 1998. He is currently a faculty member at Cornell University (Ithaca, New York, USA), where he serves as Director of the Investigative Biology Teaching Laboratories. His work focuses on science communication, making scientific knowledge accessible to non-expert audiences, and mentoring the next generation of educators.

The workshop attracted 51 participants, primarily MATE MSc and PhD students, who actively engaged in discussions on the growing importance of science communication. Topics included developing compelling narratives for diverse audiences while maintaining scientific accuracy and fostering critical thinking.
