Secondary school pupils from Poland, Romania and Turkey visit Szent István Campus
On 7 May, Szent István Campus welcomed a group of secondary school pupils and their teachers from Poland, Romania and Turkey for a full day of educational and community activities. The visit was organised by the Youth Together Association, represented by our alumnus, Aykhan Samadov.
The program began at the MATE Bioeconomy Demonstration Centre, where the visitors explored the biosystem with guidance from Dr. György Fekete, director of the Centre for Circular Economy Analysis and István Gregor, coordinator of the MATE Horticultural Educational Farm.
They then took part in practical work in the SZIA Agroecological Garden, hoeing under the mentorship of garden coordinator Daniel Brhane. After a short campus tour, Dr. István Szabó, head of the Department of Environmental Toxicology, introduced the pupils to the dangers of microplastics through vivid and engaging examples.
Following lunch, Dr. Ildikó Pándi, head of the Gödöllő Botanical Garden, guided the group through the garden, sharing fascinating stories about its plants.
As a meaningful contribution to the local environment, the pupils also helped clean forest areas.
The day continued with a visit to the town, before the guests returned to campus to join the vibrant International Dinner, bringing the busy and memorable program to a festive close.
