The predecessor of the Szentandrássy István Roma College for Advanced Studies at the Kaposvár Campus of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), the Roma College for Advanced Studies of the University of Kaposvár, was established in 2012.

From its foundation, the College has pursued two primary objectives: fostering the academic and professional development of Roma students and strengthening their Roma identity. Talent development activities include individual research projects, the presentation of research results, participation in conferences, preparation of papers for the institutional Student Research Conference (TDK), and the National Student Research Conference (OTDK), involvement in research and other grant applications, and participation in college conferences.

The College also supports the development of Roma identity through leisure and cultural programmes, participation in Roma cultural events, cooperation with domestic and international colleges for advanced studies, professional communities, civil society organisations and university-affiliated professional networks, as well as through professional and cultural exchange programmes and attendance at courses and lectures focusing on Roma-related topics.

The personal, financial and infrastructural resources of the Szentandrássy István Roma College for Advanced Studies are provided through university funding and external grants. More than two-thirds of the College’s members live together in a dedicated wing of the New Student Residence Hall on the Kaposvár Campus. Several offices and community spaces are available to support students' academic, professional and social activities.
