Medical Assistance System
Thank you for your patience in the transition period. Semmelweis Ltd. is only available until 31 August, 2025.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICE SYSTEM (from 2025/26/1) – New service provider: Swiss Medical Ltd.
English-speaking Call Centre is available at an updated phone number from September.
Detailed information on your health assistance system:
For beneficiaries of active Stipendium Hungaricum, Dissertation, FAO, Diaspora, SCYP and MISP scholarships, also, for self-financing students, based on the contract between Swiss Medical Ltd. and MATE, a medical assistance service system will be launched from September 2025.
Since the above scholarship holders - with the exception of MISP scholarship holders and self-financing students - are all entitled to a TAJ card, the system encourages the active use of TAJ benefits by providing an English-language Call Centre and English-language general practitioner and specialist care. However, students are entitled to the same health care service regardless of their possessing a TAJ card or not. The benefits of owning a valid TAJ card are to help your doctor reach your past medical history in Hungary and to entitle the owner to some discounted price in the pharmacy for some medicines.
How to apply for the health assistance system?
Students' data transfer is done automatically based on their active student status. Identification is based on your valid TAJ number and Neptun code (MISP and self-financing students especially).
The Call Centre provides a triage service and if necessary, makes an appointment for beneficiary students with the GP and/or specialists during or after the first phone call.
