MATE also represented Hungary at the QS Higher Ed Summit

Hungary was present as a sponsor in the framework of a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Culture and Innovation of Hungary and Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

The Summit gathered leaders of renowned university from across the world to elevate Europe’s higher education landscape through insightful discussions, presentations, and workshops to discuss "Changemakers in Sustainability: New visions of Europe higher ed by empowering young minds”. Our University was represented by a three-member delegation consisting of Dr. Zoltán Kovács, Head of Research Strategy, Tünde Szendi, Science Strategy Coordinator and Mercy Mukite Barasa, Research Assistant. As presenters at the Hungarian pavilion and participants in the professional programmes, our colleagues met and exchanged experiences with representatives of Hungarian and other foreign universities present, and discussed good practices in ranking and increasing the visibility of the university. The meeting also provided an excellent opportunity to network with universities from outside Europe, whose representatives were interested in MATE's educational programmes, particularly those with an agricultural focus.

QS staff collaborating with MATE welcomed the Hungary Pavilion participants in a special session, where they expressed how unique and significant they consider it to be that universities from Hungary are represented in a unified way. This initiative was also seen as exemplary by experts from other countries. In a one-to-one consultation with QS senior advisers, the experts confirmed that the efforts made so far to strengthen Agriculture and Forestry within the Subject Ranking for MATE are the right direction, and added that the development of the ranking is a step-by-step process. The consultants stressed that agricultural and life sciences is a global topic that is of interest to all those who want to make the world a better place. They said that in order to raise the profile, it is necessary to continue to build links with both developed and developing countries.

We are confident that our University will continue to reap the many benefits of participating in the event in the future.
