MATE commenced a promising partnership with the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute

As a member of a business delegation of H.E. Péter Szijjártó, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Dávid Békési Head of the International Centre for Strategy and Coordination represented the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE) in Sierra Leone. At the business forum held on 14 April 2023, Mr. Békési held talks with Dr. Matthew L. S. Gboku, Director General of the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI), to whom he handed over the MoU on research cooperation between the institutions signed by Prof. Dr. Csaba Gyuricza, Rector of MATE.

During the Sierra Leonean - Hungarian Business Forum, the participating partners discussed cooperation opportunities to promote food security and sustainability, including in the areas of maize and rice production, fish farming, water management, and the poultry industry. There was also strong interest in the MATE's agricultural-focused courses offered in English for self-financed students.
