Delegation from China's XJAU Visits Gödöllő to Foster Innovative Research Collaboration
On November 14, Dr. István Szabó, Vice Rector for Education and International Affairs at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), and Dr. Xie Shuqing, Secretary General of Xinjiang Agricultural University (XJAU), solidified the longstanding collaboration between the two universities by signing a cooperation agreement in Gödöllő.
Founded in 1952, XJAU initiated dialogue with MATE last autumn, during which numerous proposals for joint collaboration were discussed. Subsequent negotiations were followed by researcher visits, culminating in the signing of this agreement. Dr. István Szabó signed on behalf of MATE, while Dr. Xie Shuqing represented XJAU. In addition to the formal declaration, representatives from three MATE institutes—the Institute of Environmental Sciences, the Institute of Animal Science, and the Plant Protection Institute—introduced their work and explored specific areas for cooperation. Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the strengthened relationship and shared optimism for a successful future together.
The agreement outlines key areas of collaboration. According to Dávid Békési, MATE’s Director of International Relations, the partnership will enable students from both universities to pursue studies in each other's institutions. Similarly, Chinese and Hungarian faculty members and researchers will have opportunities to engage in academic and professional exchanges. The Chinese delegation highlighted the establishment of research funds aimed at fostering joint development and innovative research activities, inviting MATE researchers and educators to apply for these opportunities collaboratively.
